CRAZY QUILTS WERE A FAD OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY AND AS SUCH IS NOT TRULY CONSIDERED ART, YET IT STILL HAS ITS DEVOTEES.  IT IS COMPRISED OF REMNANTS OF MATERIAL IN NUMEROUS TEXTURES, COLOURS..........THE STITCHED-TOGETHER PIECES ARE OF ALL SHAPES AND SIZES.

THIS IS THE PATTERN WITH THE LEAST AMOUNT OF DISCIPLINE AND THE GREATEST MEASURE OF EMOTION.

SOME WOMEN ENJOY THE FREEDOM OF FORM AFFORDED BY THE CRAZY QUILT WHILE OTHERS PREFER THE DISCIPLINE AND PREDICTABILITY OF AN ESTABLISHED PATTERN.

PENNSYLVANIA, OHIO AND INDIANA ARE BUT A FEW OF THE STATES THAT BOAST WONDERFUL TESTAMENTS TO THE TALENTS OF THE LADIES OF YESTERYEAR. WORKMANSHIP WITNESSED, IS NOTHING SHORT OF MAGNIFICENT. DEDICATION OF THE LADIES WHO MANY YEARS AGO WORKED THESE WONDERFUL HEIRLOOMS, IS TRULY MANIFEST.

ANTIQUE SAGE GREEN & WHITE 'MAPLE LEAF' QUILT made in the 1930's measuring 72in x 88in and sourced in Ohio.

A beautiful piece of American history.  This quilt is a lightweight thin cotton Summer quilt in colours of sage green and white.  Quilt is in good condition, however, not issue free.  There are a few tiny stains along one side (see pictures), plus some skipped or missing stitches.  Quilting all done by hand at 8spi.

ANTIQUE BLUE & WHITE 'TREE OF LIFE' QUILT made in 1932 measuring 66in x 81in and sourced in PA.

This is a heavy quilt with plenty of use left.  The quilt is not perfect and needs some restoration.  There about 5 spots of staining and some smaller ones to the back side.  There is damage to some of the blue pieces.  I am pointing to the worst areas where there is the most wear (they are mostly at the one end). There are spots or pieces of wear in the other blue pieces but not  as concentrated as it is in the 3 trees.

The binding does show some wear on one side. However, still a good old quilt.
